Development of an enhanced dielectric insulation for the PS Bus Bars

This document reports about the development of an enhanced dielectric insulation for the magnet bus bars installed in the PS accelerator. The bus bars connect the hundred and one individual main magnets of the PS in series from the terminal connection to the ring magnets. There are 8 different type of bus bars, which are presently no longer covered by operational spare units. It is planned first to re-establish the required spare stock by manufacturing new bus-bars and therafter, to be potentially capable of replacing all the PS bar bars with new ones in case of possible future evidence of systematic end of life degradation.
