2012 NA62 Status Report to the CERN SPSC

NA62 aims to study the rare decay $K^+ \to \pi^+ \nu \bar{\nu}$ at the CERN SPS. In this document we report the status of the detector construction and the general progress of the experiment since April 2011. A detailed description of the activities for the next 12-18 months is given, including the preparation of the 2012 technical run. We also report the final lepton universality result based on the full 2007-2008 sample and the status of physics analyses based on past NA48 data which are still ongoing.
