On the possibility of accelerating protons to 50 MeV in LINAC4 and delivering them to the PSB

During the LIU kick-off meeting of December 1st 2010 [1] the question was asked whether in case of a major irreparable fault of LINAC2 a sufficient number of protons could be produced by LINAC4 and what beams could be guaranteed by the PSB under these working conditions. A study was made and the results presented at the IEFC workshop [2]. In this note we summarise the findings of the study.
