Sumario: | A prompt photon is one which originates from the hard scatter or parton fragmentation. Studying the direct production of photons provides a means of testing predictions from next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations in kinematic regions never before observed. Additionally, prompt photons can provide insight into new physics with photons in the final state. This talk presents the ATLAS measurements of the cross section for the inclusive production of isolated prompt photons, the cross section for diphoton production, and the cross sections for photons produced in associated with jets in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. |
