Physics of jet production in association with Z/y* and W bosons at ATLAS

The measurement of jet production in association with a Z/y* or W boson provides a stringent test of perturbative quantum chromodynamics (pQCD) and is necessary for the understanding of backgrounds for Higgs searches and searches for new physics. This talk reviews the inclusive and differential cross section measurement for Z/y*+jets and W+jets, with the Z/y* decaying to an electron or muon pair or the W decaying to an electron or muon. In addition, the measurement of the cross section of b-jets in association with a Z/y* or W boson and the extraction of the fraction of b-jets in Z/y* or W events is presented. The measurements are compared to NLO pQCD predictions and predictions from matrix element generators.
