Sumario:First results of the CMS experiment from PbPb collisions at nucleon-nucleon center of mass energy 2.76 TeV are presented. Thanks to its very large acceptance, fine granularity electromagnetic and hadronic calorimetry, superior muon and tracking systems, and powerful data acquisition and trigger systems, CMS is an excellent device for the study of hard probes of quark-gluon matter as well as global event properties in heavy-ion collisions at the LHC.
