Sumario:% This letter presents a search for compositeness in electrons and muons using 5.0\invfb of data collected in 2011 with the CMS detector. A search for compositeness in electrons and muons is described using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.0\invfb collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. Excited leptons ($\ell^*$) are assumed to be produced via contact interactions in conjunction with a Standard Model lepton and to decay via $\ell^* \rightarrow \ell \gamma$, yielding a %very clean final state with two energetic leptons and a photon. The number of events observed in data is consistent with that expected from standard model backgrounds. Upper limits in range of % 1.60~ -- 1.35~fb (1.30 -- 1.14~fb) 1.57~ -- 1.32~fb (1.30 -- 1.14~fb) are set at the 95\% confidence level on the production cross section for excited electrons (muons) with masses ranging from 0.6\TeV to 2\TeV.
