Sumario: | A search for resonant production of high-mass b-jet pairs is performed with the CMS detector using data collected from
pp collisions from the LHC at $\sqrt{s}=7$~TeV. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 5~fb$^{-1}$. We set upper
limits on the production of narrow dijet resonances in a model-independent fashion as a function of the branching ratio to b-jet
pairs. When the fraction of decays to b quarks is dominant, upper limits on the production of particles with masses below 2~TeV
improve by as much as 70\% over comparable searches for dijet resonances that disregard b-tagging information. The data exclude
a sequential-standard-model \cPZpr\ with masses from $1.04$--$1.49$~TeV and a scalar octet with masses from $1$--$1.08$~TeV and from $1.12$--$1.51$~TeV. |
