Sumario: | ALICE is considering to build a Very High Momentum Particle Identification Detector (VHMPID) in order to extend the momentum range of particle identification to 5–25 GeV/c on track-by-track level. In this short contribution I discuss the design and performance of the High-pT Trigger Detector (HPTD) which is suppose to generates the level-1 trigger for VHMPID in Pb-Pb collisions within the desired 5μs. The development of the HPTD detector, performance in p+p and heavy-ion collisions will be discussed. |
