Sumario:We report on a successful fit of HERA deep‐inelastic scattering data at low‐x to a modified version of the BFKL amplitude which incorporates the running of the strong coupling and information about the infrared behaviour of QCD, leading to discrete pomeron poles. The possibility of using the quality of this fit to gain information about physics beyond the Standard Model is discussed.
