Sumario: | We present a reliability study on a new low voltage power supply design for the front-end electronics of the ATLAS Tile Calorimeter. Using the reliability data from the manufacturers of the components, we derive an estimate of the expected number of failures per year during the normal operating lifetime of the power supply bricks. We will illustrate the technique, which may be useful for other power supply designs or front-end electronics designs where high reliability is required. We discuss the factors in the design that limit reliability, and present our preliminary design work for improvements in the power distribution system for the LHC Phase 2 upgrade. |
