Status and Recent Results of the ATLAS Experiment

The Large Hadron Collider at CERN is continuing its operation in 2012 by showing a stable performance at 4 TeV per proton beam energy and aiming to provide enough statistics for the Higgs boson discovery. ATLAS is one of four major experiments accumulating data since the LHC start-up. The status of...

description The Large Hadron Collider at CERN is continuing its operation in 2012 by showing a stable performance at 4 TeV per proton beam energy and aiming to provide enough statistics for the Higgs boson discovery. ATLAS is one of four major experiments accumulating data since the LHC start-up. The status of the detector and its performance are presented in the talk together with the highlights of main results, including Higgs-like boson observation, study of the Standard Model processes and heavy ion physics. The ATLAS upgrade plans are presented as well.
