Highlights of recent results from the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider
After the first three years of operation, the Large Hadron Collider delivered an impressive amount of proton-proton collision data. The CMS experiment recorded approximately 5~fb$^{-1}$ at $\sqrt{s}=$7~TeV and 20~fb$^{-1}$ at $\sqrt{s}=$8~TeV. A wealth of results have been obtained with those data....

description | After the first three years of operation, the Large Hadron Collider delivered an impressive amount of proton-proton collision data. The CMS experiment recorded approximately 5~fb$^{-1}$ at $\sqrt{s}=$7~TeV and 20~fb$^{-1}$ at $\sqrt{s}=$8~TeV. A wealth of results have been obtained with those data. Some of the most recent results on top quark physics, searches for supersymmetry and for other new physics models are discussed. The most notable result is the observation of a new particle with a mass of 125~GeV, with characteristics similar to those of the Higgs boson. |
