Sumario: | This note presents the application of techniques to correct measured jet shapes for the effects of multiple simultaneous proton–proton interactions, or pile-up. A new approach that relies on jet-by-jet evaluations of the sensitivity of a particular shape observable to pile-up is analyzed and compared to other approaches. The full 2012 ATLAS dataset is used for these studies, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $(20.3 \pm 0.3)~\mathrm{fb}^{−1}$ of proton–proton (pp) collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 8~\mathrm{TeV}$. |
