description | Since the discovery of Higgs boson on 4 July 2012, CERN has increased its Outreach aspect to allow more people to gain knowledge about particle physics and the researches related to it especially in CERN. As part of CERN’s Outreach effort to spread the knowledge throughout the world, we work on a collaboration project between ATLAS and LHCb experiments to make a multi-platform game to educate players about particle physics and CERN also let them have fun at the same time so the education process is a lot more effective. The knowledge of Particle Physics is incomprehensible for most people such as children, teenagers, and people in general who are not being specifically a particle physicist. Therefore, there is a need to promote and spread the knowledge on particle physics throughout the world, and CERN as the world leading institution in particle physics research plays an essential role. Particle physics is not a simple matter that is easily understood by most people, thus the challenge is to make an educational material which is packed such that it employs fun aspect while learning. Therefore, difficult materials can be made to be understandable easily. For this reason, we are making The HEP Game. The HEP Game Compilation consisted of 2 games: the first game, MadParticles, is a LHC Detector Simulator game which educates the player about different kinds of particles and their behaviors in detector, the parts of detector, and the collision also decay mechanism. The second game, RunningCollider, is a simulation game which allows players to build CERN facilities for upper ground and underground and run it as the manager. The player will learn a lot about how CERN experiments and facilities are being managed such as hiring personnel, work shifts, upgrading instruments, and many more. By playing the 2 games, the player would be able to obtain full knowledge about particle physics and CERN work processes. Currently, the first game is being developed for mobile-based platform such as iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and Blackberry while the second game is being developed for PCs. There is a connectivity feature between the 2 games where the player can choose to play the games separately or in connection. The advancement in one game would unlock the upgrade in the other game and also give additional credits for each game. Thus, game connectivity allows the player to have more complete knowledge and help them to play the game easier for unlocking features and obtaining credits. |
