Sumario:In colliders, the Van der Meer scan method consists of sweeping stepwise one beam across the other one, while measuring the collision rate as a function of the beam displacement. The method is applied to determine the absolute luminosity calibration for the experiments. In 2012, a request was made by the LHC experiments to produce transversely Gaussian bunches with relatively large emittances and moderate intensity for such a calibration scan. This brief note describes how these bunches were produced throughout the LHC injection chain.
