A Measurement of the CP Violation Parameter $\Re (e'/e)$

The NA48 experiment is a fixed target experiment on the Super Proton Synchrotron accelerator at CERN. The aim of the experiment is to investigate direct CP violation in the neutral kaon system by measuring the parameter Re(E'/6) to an accuracy of 2 x iO. In 1998 the NA48 experiment took 14 week...

description The NA48 experiment is a fixed target experiment on the Super Proton Synchrotron accelerator at CERN. The aim of the experiment is to investigate direct CP violation in the neutral kaon system by measuring the parameter Re(E'/6) to an accuracy of 2 x iO. In 1998 the NA48 experiment took 14 weeks of data for this measurement. This thesis describes a method for determining lZe(e'/€) and the systematic studies of the measurement. The result of my analysis is: = (12.3 ± 2.8 ± 3.7) x iO where the first error is statistical and the second error is systematic.
