Sumario:This file contains the Preface, Table of Contents and the Back Cover text of the book "Quantum Electron Liquids and High-Tc Superconductivity" to be published by Springer-Verlag 1995. This is a textbook which is aimed at the apparent lack of introductory publications which relate seemingly disconnected areas of many body physics with the current status of research in the field of electron correlations. The book comprises of three parts, subdivided into 11 chapters, which lead from the very begining of perturbation theory via Mott-Hubbard systems to exactly solvable models in one dimension and Renormalization Group methods in condensed matter physics. Most chapters of this book are written in an easy to read and pedagogical style concentrating on the physical concepts rather than on the formal details of the various problems considered. Among the topics it covers there are: 1) Landau Fermi Liquid Theory 2) Renormalization Group Methods applied to Condensed Matter Systems 3) 1D Electron Systems. 4) Luttinger Liquid Theory 5) Phenomenology of High-Tc compounds 6) Hubbard, t-J and Heisenberg Models 7) Real-Space Renormalization Group Methods It contains 100 figures, 15 tables, exercises and worked examples. The inclusion of advanced material will make the book also of interest to specialists in the field.
