Performance and operation experience of the Atlas Semiconductor Tracker and Pixel Detector at the LHC.

The Pixel Detector and the Semiconductor Tracker are the key elements of the tracking system in the ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. They provide precise measurements of charged particles trajectories in the region around the point where proton-proton collisions take place. The design and layout of both detectors are briefly described, before discussing their operations, data taking and performance over the course of LHC Run 1.
