Sumario:The general purpose ATLAS detector and the dedicated MoEDAL experiment at the LHC are used to probe the existence of Magnetic Monopoles. ATLAS and MoEDAL have the capability to detect high ionisation energy loss, while at MoEDAL an induction technique is also applied to material in which monopole could have stopped and remained trapped. Previous monopole searches at ATLAS used standard electron or pho- ton triggers with high transverse energy requirements at high-level, re- sulting in low signal efficiency. A dedicated Level-2 trigger was developed which does not require calorimeter energy thresholds beyond Level-1 and picks candidates that do not traverse deep into the Calorimeter. The working of this dedicated trigger is presented here. The trigger collected data from September to December, 2012. Over the same time span, at MoEDAL, a set of aluminium rods was exposed to 8 TeV collisions near the LHCb interaction point. In 2013, this test array was analysed using a superconducting magnetometer. The experiement probes monopoles carrying a multiple of the fundamental unit magnetic charge for the first time at the LHC. Preliminary results of the magnetometer measurements are presented.
