Preliminary study of the muon shielding requirement for the CN2PY beamline

This note summarizes the preliminary results concerning the shielding requirement at the beam dump for the CN2PY secondary beamline. Several different configurations were tested, using Monte-Carlo calculations performed with the FLUKA package. The proposed design is a passive shielding of about 8000 t of iron, whose dimensions have been optimized to reduce the fluence level of the beam induced muons to an acceptable level for the near detector working conditions.
