Sumario: | We present a measurement of the Z-boson production cross section double differentially in bins of rapidity and transverse momentum using a data sample of pp collision events at $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb$^{-1}$. The Z-boson is identified via its decay to a pair of muons. The measurement allows to precisely test QCD dynamics over a large region of phase-space. In addition, the double differential cross-section measurement is potentially sensitive to the gluon parton density function in a kinematic regime important for the Higgs-boson production via gluon fusion. The results are compared to MadGraph and RESBOS generators. In both cases the spectrum is softer in data than in MC at high $P_T(Z)$ with the simulation to data ratio varying $O(10\%)$ from one. |
