description After the discovery of a Higgs boson, measurements of its properties are now used to test the consistency with the predictions from the Brout-Englert-Higgs mechanism. Furthermore, its observation motivates the search for the appearance of other scalar bosons as predicted in various extensions of the standard model of particle physics. These proceedings describe the recent searches in the scalar sector that have been performed with the CMS detector at the LHC, using pp collision data collected at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 5~fb$^{-1}$ and 20~fb$^{-1}$ respectively. Considering models such as MSSM, NMSSM, and 2HDMs, exclusion limits in various extensions of the scalar sector of the standard model of particle physics are derived.
