description | Results are presented on the search for a light charged Higgs boson that can be produced in the decay of a top quark and subsequently decays into a charm and an antistrange quark.
The analysed data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb$^{-1}$ recorded in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 8 TeV by the CMS experiment at LHC.
The search is conducted in the decays of the top-antitop pairs $t\bar{t}~\rightarrow~W^{\pm}bH^{\mp}\bar{b}$ with the W decaying to $\mu\nu$ and the $H^{+}$ decaying to $c\bar{s}$.
The decay final state thus comprises an isolated muon, four or more jets, and missing transverse energy due to the neutrino.
No significant deviation is found with respect to the standard model predictions, and model-independent
upper limits are set on the branching fraction $\cal{B}$($t~\rightarrow~H^{+}b$) in the range of 2-7\% for a charged Higgs mass between 90 and 160 GeV, under the assumption that $\cal{B}$($H^{+}~\rightarrow~c\bar{s}$)=100\%. |
