Limits on metastable gluinos from ATLAS SUSY searches at 8 TeV

In some models of supersymmetry, the gluino is metastable and travels a measurable distance in the detector (as an $R$-hadron) before decaying to quarks (or a gluon) and a neutralino. description In some models of supersymmetry, the gluino is metastable and travels a measurable distance in the detector (as an $R$-hadron) before decaying to quarks (or a gluon) and a neutralino. Results of ATLAS SUSY searches designed for promptly decaying squarks and gluinos, produced at 8 TeV $pp$ collisions at the Large Hadron Collider, are reinterpreted in the context of metastable gluinos. Limits are presented as a function of gluino mass, gluino lifetime, and neutralino mass. Decays of the gluino to ttbar + neutralino (N) are studied separately from decays to qqbar + N (where q is a non-top quark) or gluon + N. The gluino is excluded at 95% confidence level up to $m_{gluino}=850~(900)$ GeV for decays to qqbarN/gN (ttbarN), for a lifetime of 1 ns and $m_{N}=100$ GeV.
