description <!--HTML-->Collide@CERN - Creative Collisions Between the Arts and Science 10 July, 2014 which begins at 19.00, followed by a drinks reception at 20.30 at the CERN Globe of Science and Innovation, CERN. You are very warmly invited to the opening presentation of Data Artist, Ryoji Ikeda’s residency at CERN. Ryoji Ikeda, one of the world’s leading electronic composers and visual artists, is the new Prix Ars Electronica Collide@CERN award winner. Ryoji Ikeda and his science inspiration partner, Theoretical Physicist, Dr. Tom Melia will talk about their work in arts and science. They are at the beginning of their creative journey together at CERN. A little about Ryoji Ikeda – the new Prix Ars Electronica Collide@CERN artist in residence. Ryoji Ikeda focuses on the essential characteristics of sound itself and that of visuals as light by means of both mathematical precision and mathematical aesthetics. Ikeda has gained a reputation as one of the few international artists working convincingly across both visual and sonic media. He elaborately orchestrates sound, visuals, materials, physical phenomena and mathematical notions into immersive live performances and installations. www.ryojiikeda.com Ryoji Ikeda’s latest work: www.supersymmetry.ycam.jp/en The lecture is open and is free to the public and you are very welcome to bring guests and friends. Please RSVP to Collide.events@cern.ch so we can reserve a seat for you at what promises to be an extraordinary evening about arts and science. Thank you.
