Measurement of WW Production with the ATLAS detector

A measurement of WW production with the ATLAS detector at $\sqrt{s}$=8 TeV is presented. The full available data set of L=20.3 fb$^{-1}$ is used. The background determination using data-driven methods is described and the final results for the total phase space given. The combined cross section of e...

description A measurement of WW production with the ATLAS detector at $\sqrt{s}$=8 TeV is presented. The full available data set of L=20.3 fb$^{-1}$ is used. The background determination using data-driven methods is described and the final results for the total phase space given. The combined cross section of ee, $\mu\mu$ and $e\mu$ channels is found to be $ \sigma_{WW}^{\mathrm{tot}} = 71.4 \ ^{+1.2}_{-1.2} \mathrm{(stat)} \ ^{+5.0}_{-4.4} \mathrm{(syst)} \ ^{+2.2}_{-2.1} \mathrm{(lumi)~pb}$, and exceeds the SM expectation by 2.1 $\sigma$. Several contributions have been neglected in the theory prediction.
