Sumario: | This summer student project focuses on the calibration of the CMS muon momentum scale enabling for a high precision W mass measurement. We study the effects of misalignment, mismodeling of magnetic field and tracker material and their contributions to the bias of the momentum scale. We disentangle and correct these effects in 7 TeV data and Monte Carlo using J/psi and Z resonances. A Kalman filter is used to extract the corrections from J/psi data and a fit method is used to estimate the systematic error of the Kalman filter result. |
