CERN Summer Student Project 2014: Study of long-range correlations in high-multiplicity proton-proton collisions using 2012 data collected by the ALICE detector.

Sumario:Long-range two-particle angular correlations have been used extensively in studies of collective flow effects in Pb-Pb collisions. Recently CMS observed long-range near-side correlations in p-p and p-Pb collisions. ALICE has also studied long-range correlations on the near and away side in p-Pb collisions at √s = 5.02 TeV and discovered a peculiar double-ridge structure which is commonly intepreted as an evidence of collective flow effects. In this project we extend these studies and investigate the use of correlation functions at √s = 8 TeV using data from p-p collisions collected with the ALICE detector.
