Longitudinal Impedance of the SPS Pumping Ports

This summer project has aimed to characterise and understand parts of the impedance in the Super Proton Synchrotron, as the machine suffers from longitudinal instability issues; bunch lengthening occurs for large bunch luminosities, as required by the upgraded Large Hadron Collider. The success of the project is twofold. The learning outcome for the author has been tremendous, and the goal of the project was reached within the time constraints.
