Reconstruction and Identification of Tau Leptons in ATLAS

These slides give a brief overview over the tau trigger, reconstruction and identification in the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. First the tau lepton, its importance in high energy physics and QCD jets as main source of background are introduced. The basic concepts of the tau trigger are explained together with a trigger efficiency measurement. A visual explanation of the tau reconstruction procedure is followed by an explanation of the tau identification method and the corresponding performance. Before concluding with an outlook on the new tau reconstruction for 2015 and later, a measurement of the tau energy scale is presented.
