Production of vector bosons plus heavy flavors studies c and b quark parton distribution functions (PDFs) and gluon splitting effects. Measurements of W + c and Z + b(b) are reported and compared to predictions based on various PDFs in 4 and 5 flavour schemes. An overview of the results is given.
