description | This poster summarizes the performance of the ATLAS muon reconstruction with the data from pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 8 TeV which corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 20.4 fb-1. The ATLAS detector provides efficient identification of muons and accurate measurement of their momenta with two high precision tracking systems, the Inner Detector and the Muon Spectrometer. Large reference samples of J/psi, Y and Z decays are used for measurement of the reconstruction efficiency, momentum scale and resolution, and for deriving the corrections for the simulation which will be used in physics analysis. Over the most phase space the efficiency is above 99% and is measured at the per-mile level. The measured scale is known with the uncertainty up to 0.2% depending on the rapidity. |
