description The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) is a linear electron-positron accelerator under study at CERN, in view of exploring a new leptons collision energy region (0.5TeV to 5TeV). This complex requires ~1600 klystrons fed by highly efficient and controllable power electronics for a convenient power connection to the utility grid. This paper presents the challenges and evaluates several possible structures for the power system. Discussion are provided regarding the candidate topologies according to the converters’ ratings / number and considering reliability, modularity, and redundancy.
