Sumario: | The research activity described in this thesis work is dedicated to developing a longitudinal and a transverse beam coupling impedance model for the CERN Proton Synchrotron (PS), in the framework of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) Injector Upgrade (LIU) project. The study allows a better understanding of the instability threshold of the machine, helping predicting the effects of the current increase planned for the upgrade program. Furthermore, the knowledge of the machine beam coupling impedance model allows improving the stability of beams injected into the LHC chain, in prevision for the particle collision energy increase in program for LHC physics experiments. |
