Optimising Event Selection for a particle angular correlation analysis at LHCb

We discuss the optimisation of the event selection in order to observe the so-called "near-side ridge" in proton-proton collisions in the forward region at the LHCb at $\sqrt{s} = 14$ TeV centre of mass energy. We determine that background needs to be reduced by selecting a single primary vertex per event and defining a luminous region in order optimise our event selection.
