Several ALICE sub-detectors are part of the trigger system and can be used to set up a high multiplicity trigger. Moreover, the high multiplicity triggers have to be harmonized with the other goals of the experiment, limiting the bandwidth which can be dedicated to these triggers. In this project we discuss the optimization of the trigger strategy and some initial studies for the simulation of high multiplicity events.
