Measurement of the charge asymmetry in top quark pair production in 8 TeV $pp$ collision data collected by the ATLAS experiment

The charge asymmetry in top quark pair production, $A_C$, measured using 20.3 fb$^{-1}$ of data recorded with the ATLAS detector at a center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV is presented. Events where the top quarks decay semi-leptonically ($e$+jets or $\mu$+jets) are considered. The $t\bar{t}$ syste...

Sumario:The charge asymmetry in top quark pair production, $A_C$, measured using 20.3 fb$^{-1}$ of data recorded with the ATLAS detector at a center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV is presented. Events where the top quarks decay semi-leptonically ($e$+jets or $\mu$+jets) are considered. The $t\bar{t}$ system is fully reconstructed using a likelihood fit. A Bayesian unfolding procedure is performed to determine $A_C$ at the parton level. An inclusive result is presented along with differential measurements with respect to the velocity of the $t\bar{t}$ system, $\beta_{z,t\bar{t}}$, the transverse momentum of the $t\bar{t}$ system, $p_{T,t\bar{t}}$, and the invariant mass of the $t\bar{t}$ system, $m_{t\bar{t}}$. All measurements are consistent with Standard Model predictions.
