Sumario: | This analysis is the first measurement of jets from charm quarks in a proton-lead (pPb) environment with additional charm jet measurements in proton-proton (pp) collisions. Charm jets are identified by requiring a secondary vertex comprised of three or more charged tracks that are signficantly displaced from the primary vertex. A variant of the secondary vertex mass is used to extract the relative contributions of jet flavors. We find that the jet energy modification in pPb collisions is consistent with that in pp collisions, albeit at different collision energies. In addition, we observe that the charm jet fraction in pPb is consistent with that predicted by PYTHIA to within systematic uncertainties for both proton-proton and proton-lead collisions. |
