description | After a short historical introduction of the discovery of the top quark 20 years ago, a brief motivation was given for continuing to study the heaviest known fundamental particle. Selected recent results from the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the LHC, and the CDF and D0 experiments at the Tevatron are presented. First measurements of the top mass, a fundamental parameter of the Standard Model, are presented. This is followed by stringent tests of the Standard model through the measurement of the \ttbar\ inclusive and differential cross-sections as well as the associated production of vector bosons. The spin correlation is used as an example to illustrate the relevance of prevision top quark properly measurements in the search for physics beyond the standard model. Finally some recent results in single top production are presented. |
