First results on Higgs to WW at $\sqrt{s}=13~\mathrm{TeV}$

The first results on the standard model Higgs boson decaying to a W-boson pair at $\sqrt{s}=13~\mathrm{TeV}$ at the LHC are reported. The event sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of $2.3 \pm 0.1~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$, collected by the CMS detector in 2015. The $\mathrm{W}^+\mathrm{W}^-$ cand...

description The first results on the standard model Higgs boson decaying to a W-boson pair at $\sqrt{s}=13~\mathrm{TeV}$ at the LHC are reported. The event sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of $2.3 \pm 0.1~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$, collected by the CMS detector in 2015. The $\mathrm{W}^+\mathrm{W}^-$ candidates are selected in events with an oppositely charged $\mathrm{e}\mu$ pair and large missing transverse momentum in association with up to one jet. The observed (expected) significance for the SM Higgs boson with a mass of $125~\mathrm{GeV}$ is $0.7\sigma$ ($2.0\sigma$), corresponding to an observed cross section times branching ratio of $0.3 \pm 0.5$ times the standard model prediction.
