Analysis of two separate Higgs boson production processes which decay to two W bosons: vector boson fusion production with a fully leptonic final state and only one reconstructed jet; and WH production with the final state signature WWW*->lvlvqq

Sumario: | The possible separation of signal and background for two Higgs boson processes is investigated comparing the significance achieved from an analysis fully based on binary selection criteria with an event selection applying a boosted decision tree as a multivariate method. The two examined channels are: vector boson fusion production of the Higgs particle with the decay H -> WW* -> lvlv, with only one of the two tag jets reconstructed; and the Higgs-strahlung process from a W boson with the signature WH -> WWW* -> lvlvqq. The results for the VBF and WH analysis are obtained from data samples corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.2 fb^-1 and 5.8 fb^-1 respectively and a center-of-mass energy of sqrt(s)=13 TeV. |
