Search for new resonances in the merged jet + dilepton final state in CMS

We present a search for resonances decaying into pairs of vector bosons with the latest proton-proton data at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV delivered by the LHC and collected by the CMS experiment. description We present a search for resonances decaying into pairs of vector bosons with the latest proton-proton data at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV delivered by the LHC and collected by the CMS experiment. This analysis focus on the search for resonances decaying into WZ and ZZ final states, where one of the bosons decays into dimuon/dielectron final states, and the other boson decays into a fully hadronic final state. The existence of heavy resonances is a prediction of many Beyond Standard Model theories, and models predicting spin 2 and spin 1 particles are used as benchmarks for this search. The high mass of the new resonance leads to the the occurrence of merged jets in the detector, and jet substructure techniques are used to identify those objects.
