description A model-independent general search for new physics is performed using 3.2 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Event topologies involving isolated leptons (electrons and muons), photons, jets, b-tagged jets and missing transverse momentum, leading to 639 different final states, are investigated. For each final state, a search algorithm tests the compatibility of data against the Monte Carlo simulated background in two kinematic variables sensitive to new physics effects. The expected frequency of the maximal significance observed in each channel is estimated using pseudo-experiments generated assuming the Standard Model prediction. No significant deviation of the data from the Standard Model expectation is found. The largest observed discrepancy, with a local p-value of 5·10$^{−4}$ , corresponds to a global significance of less than one sigma.
