Physics prospects for High-luminosity LHC with ATLAS

Sumario: | In order to extend its discovery potential, the LHC will need a major upgrade around 2020 to increase its luminosity (rate of collisions) by a factor of 10 to reach 10^35 cm−2s−1. This may allow to collect about 3000 fb-1 of proton-proton collisions. The physics accessible at the high-luminosity phase of the LHC extends well beyond that of the earlier LHC program. Selected topics, spanning from Higgs boson studies to new particle searches and rare top quark decays, etc. The talk will also cover the the planned upgrades of the ATLAS detector. |
