description The Jet Vertex Charge algorithm, developed recently within the ATLAS collaboration, discriminates between jets resulting from the hadronisation of a bottom quark or bottom antiquark. This note describes a measurement of the performance of the algorithm and the extraction of data-to-simulation scale factors, made using $b$-tagged jets in candidate single lepton $t\bar{t}$ events. The data sample was collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC using $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV in 2015 and 2016 and corresponds to a total integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb$^{-1}$ . Overall, good agreement is found between data and the simulation.
