The computational and data management challenges of the SKA have some unique features which this talk will outline, but also challenges similar to those being faced by other big science projects such as the HL-LHC. The presentation will cover these areas of commonality and suggest areas for collaboration between CERN and SKA.</p>
<p><strong>About the speaker</strong></p>
<p class="MsoPlainText">Miles Deegan is the high performance computing specialist at the SKA Organisation’s global HQ at Jodrell Bank Observatory in the UK. For the past four and a half years he has overseen the work of the Science Data Processor consortium – see <a href="http://ska-sdp.org/">http://ska-sdp.org/</a> for further details. Prior to the SKA Miles worked for a number of ICT vendors as well as public sector research bodies. He holds BSc and DPhil degrees in Chemical Physics from the University of Sussex.</p> |
