description | Assembly of HRMT-45 experiment. The prototype of the next generation of absorbers for the injection TDIS will become real in the upcoming months. As part of the accelerator complex upgrade program (HL-LHC), aiming at delivering higher luminosity, this device is going to be thoroughly tested prior to the installation in the tunnel. One of the most relevant tests is an experiment at the HiRadMat facility of CERN, where a TDIS module (shown in the pictures) specifically assembled for this purpose, will be impacted by high intensity proton beams. The main goal here is to reproduce the most severe failure scenario likely to occur while operating within the HL-LHC. This will allow verify the device robustness and cross-check the numerical simulations under those circumstances. |
