Sumario:This paper highlights the main results from the 2017 LHC MD program which was deployed to commission round ATS optics with high telescopic index, and ultimately to study their properties in terms of long-range beam-beam effect and octupole thresholds for coherent instabilities (MD2269). This has been the fruit of a long work all along 2017, but in the end and for the first time, a dedicated LHC MD program (4 shifts in total) opened the possibility to study a non-nominal machine configuration with unsafe beams, and then extract from this study a myriad of very conclusive results for the future operation of the LHC.
