LHCb Upgrade 2018

The photographs were taken on Wednesday morning, 24th of October 2018, during the dismantling of the last beam test experiment performed in the context of the LHCb detector Upgrade 1 (the upgraded detector will be installed in LHC point 8 during the years 2019 and 2020). One sees in particular three Vertex Locator (VELO) prototype pixel modules positioned on the beam axis (pictures 1-5, 7, 10-12, 14-15 and 19-20) and one prototype Upstream Tracker silicon microstrip sensor (picture 17). The delicate pixel modules will be installed in the LHC vacuum, at a few millimeters from the beams. The final, custom-made vacuum feedthrough flanges, with all cables connected, are also visible (for example on the left of picture 7).
